He was a big inspiration to the younger generation of pro wrestlers and that impact was well-recognized by his peers around the industry. Pro Wrestling Illustrated named Malenko as the number one in the world in their 1997 power rankings and was one of the inductees in the 2015 Hardcore Hall of Fame.
