Kamala was a semi-famous wrestler in the mid-’80s who was played by James Harris. The character was supposedly a primitive yet fearsome Ugandan fighter who painted his face and liked to wrestle in what seems to be a piece of loincloth. It was all weird, we know, but this was the ‘80s.

If you think entertainment wrestling can be weird, well, entertainment wrestling in the mid-’80s was degrees of magnitude much weirder. Kamala was also one of Harris’s many personas. He did in fact wrestle as other characters, including one that was called “Sugar Bear”—hey, don’t ask us why.
