ANITA MUI – CERVICAL CANCER

Hong Kong singer and actress Anita Mui, whose credits include huge contributions to the Cantopop music genre and was frequently referred to as the “Madonna of The East” during the peak of her career, succumbed to cervical cancer in December of 2003. She had this flamboyant onstage persona that enamored fans from all over the country. She was, to a huge degree, one of the most celebrated celebrities in Hong Kong, and was even said to have paved the way for other Hong Kong artists.

Interestingly enough, she started singing in amusement parks as a kid until she was discovered.
