LEN LESSER – CANCER-RELATED PNEUMONIA

Character actor Len Lesser, who is known the world over as Seinfeld’s Uncle Leo from the hit television sitcom Seinfeld, died in 2011 from cancer-related pneumonia. He was 88 years old then. He was a prolific character actor for more than 50 years and landed the role of Uncle Leo—the role that would make him a household name—in 1989. Indeed, he shared for an interview that the show Seinfeld was the first show in the long list he’s been involved with that made him a celebrity. Among his film credits are Birdman of Alcatraz, Moonshine County Express, and Death Hunt.

Interestingly enough, Lesser served in the army during World War 2, having enlisted after the events of Pearl Harbor. He’s a man who will definitely be missed.
