LAURA BRANIGAN
With her 1982 single “Gloria”, Laura was able to cement her place in the music industry’s history. The song remained on the U.S. Billboard 100 chart for 36 weeks—the first time for a female artist. Her success wasn’t limited to just the United States, Laura was equally successful in the United Kingdom, with two of her songs making it to the Top Singles Chart. The singer-songwriter was in the midst of preparing to release new music in 2004 when she suddenly passed away due to an undiagnosed cerebral aneurysm.
The St. Louis Blues recently used “Gloria” as their unofficial victory song with credit to Laura.
