Actor, writer, director, and producer, Sylvester Stallone, who gained international stardom after playing Rocky Balboa in the film Rocky—the boxing drama film that would go on to have 5 sequels as well as 2 spin-offs—is reported to have an estimated net worth of $400 million. Not bad for the one-time struggling actor who wrote the screenplay of Rocky only to be offered a few hundred thousand dollars to have a different actor play the titular role.

To Stallone’s credit, he refused the offer, demanded that he can only play the role himself, and the rest, as what they say, is history. Until this year, Stallone had made 22 films, including many of the biggest commercial blockbusters in film history. The “Rocky” and “First Blood” franchises have grossed more than $2 billion. Stallone himself is now one of the highest-paid actors, earning more than $20 million per film.
