Joanne Rowling, or better known as J.K. Rowling, is the author behind the legendary seven-book series, Harry Potter, which is also the source material behind one of the highest-grossing film franchises of all time. The books themselves have sold over 500 million copies worldwide, and because of their adaptation into a blockbuster film series, Rowling’s Harry Potter has become a billion-dollar franchise. The Harry Potter films have also inspired another franchise in the same universe, The Fantastic Beasts series, and is also a critically-acclaimed set of movies with an all-star cast.

It’s still a surprise to many once they hear that the original manuscript for Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone got rejected by 12 publishing houses before finally getting published. Those companies must be regretting their decision today, given the fact that Rowling is now a billionaire with many writing credits because of her books. As a result of Rowling’s success, she recently acquired the Amphitrite from Johnny Depp after getting entranced by its beauty on a voyage trip.
