Former professional basketball player and all-around successful entrepreneur, Michael Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York. His family moved to North Carolina when he turned five and Jordan grew close to his father. They were both passionate about baseball at that time. Jordan’s famous tongue spitting when he dunked was derived from his father’s movements when doing repair work. Jordan was a naughty boy but willing to spend every second on the basketball court with his elder brother.

Michael Jordan is widely regarded as the GOAT — the Greatest of All Time — of basketball, is reportedly worth $2.1 billion. Of course, this is hardly surprising, since the man is for all practical purposes the most successful basketball player — indeed, the most successful athlete — in the world. Much of his money came from playing basketball, to be sure, but a bigger chunk of it has come from his endorsements and his various investments, including but not limited to the Charlotte Hornets, of which he is the principal owner.
